[email protected] . 1966 GT350 replicaBased on very nice A code 1966 mustang fastback that was built in NJ plant and then at some point vehicle relocatedto California (documented) where it was restored and then purchased by previous owner an air force mechanic. Ipurchased vehicle as a very nice car that was extremely well kept (right down to logging all miles driven and allmaintenance) from the Air Force mechanic in Virginia in 2011 from a Hemmings listing. It was my starting point tobring the vehicle to the level that it is in currently. Since I have owned the car I have done a lot of professionally installed upgrades and maintenance most throughCarolina Automotive Restoration Services and have receipts. Engine:289 that has been confirmed and decoded but not originalPerformance:Has been rebuilt and has a mild comp cam (have receipts for the cam) done with previous owner. I do not have any specs on the rebuild but runs extremely well on pump gas 91 octane with excellent power and nosmoking, excellent oil pressure and cylinder pressure. NEW Correct high rise air intake Shelby Cobra model from Branda PerformanceNEW Correct finned oil pan Shelby Cobra model from Branda PerformanceNEW Cobra valve coversMallory electronic ignition (new replaced rotor and cap) with matching new Mallory coil and new wires from as wellas new plugsNew Edelbrock 600cfm carburetor with electric choke and inch phenolic spacer. Set of metering rods and springsto adjust performance convey. New correct air filter. New fuel lines stainless steel with insulation for helping keep the fuel cool as well as new fuel filter. Engine has been professionally tuned and timing done. New Ford Heavy duty clutch and resurfaced flywheelPeriod correct Hurst shifter linked up to a 4 speed toploader. New 3.55 Richmond gears Rear end is 8 inch ford with posi/limited slipTraction BarsMonte Carlo bar1" Lower front performance springs from Branda Performance1" Lowered (blocked) rearNew aluminum radiator with top portion painted correct engine black to blend in well with the period correctcomponents but keeps us running cool on hot Carolina days with confidence. The entire cooling system has been recently flushed/ new antifreeze and new hoses. The thermostat was replaced atthe time. The braking system is stock drum brakes x 4 corners with single reservoir. The brakes have been recently redonewith new components and fluid and adjusted correctly and the vehicle stops without any pulling. Disc brakes (front or front/rear) can be added easily at an additional cost and could be discussed at time ofpurchase. Wheels are period correct American Racing Torque Thrust D with BF Goodrich tires. The center caps have beenreplaced with correct aluminum polished R Model caps from Branda Performance. Slight tear in drivers seat at seam (apparently easilyrepairable from an interior upholstery shop per my local repair restoration shop)Very nice overall interiorExterior and paintUnder my ownership repainted Base Coat/Clear Coat correct Wimbeldon White with LeMans Blue stripe (the stripes werepainted first so that there is no ridge in the paint) and paint has been color sanded to a deep finish. The stripes were painted with the correct measurements per the original vehicle specifications. I am really pleased with the paint: door jams as well as trunk were painted correctly at the time. My local shophas confirmed to me how well preserved this vehicle is when they could be looking for more work which is a nicevote of confidence. Body lines and pans are very nice. Correct steel frame Shelby reproduction high quality hood with functional air intake and correct gloss blackunderside from Branda PerfomanceCorrect stainless steel hood pins with hidden traditional hood latch for extra safety (I know too many folks whohave had issues with the hood flying up while driving)Functional side scoops with ducting to rear brakes (From install I have photos of original quarters from the insidewith original oxide paint and no rust)Side markings: Correct GT350 tape stripesCorrect Ford Rotunda mirror. Chrome is very, very nice but not perfectAll lights/signals workCorrect rear quarter windows installedGlass appears to be original except for windshield . Rubber is new or excellent. TrunkGas tank was replaced when car was originally redone and solid. Trunk has full sized spare and correct jack and components. Under the car:The car has been undercoated at its restoration in California. New U joints and the driveshaft still has a sticker on it from when it was restored prior to my purchase. The front and rear suspension components appear to have been replaced at time of original restoration. Exhaust in good condition and has correct 1966 exit tipsDriving ExperienceNo rattles, no squeaks- drives like it is on rails and loves windy roads. Responsive handling and tracks to center without drifting or vibration. Throttle response is excellentNo pulling or wandering.
